This scene from the animated movie of Atlantis depicts Vikings on a ship in a story sea looking for Atlantis despite warnings of sea monsters who guard it. We went for a Celtic flute melody in a 6/8 tempo which gives a nice feel of the motion of the boat on a sea with low male choir voices to add to the Viking feel of the scene. Low brass to add a sense of danger and adventure at the warnings of the sea monster. Then we switch on the lightening strike to a 4/4 tempo to match the forward motion of their mission. The music is stirring, brave and adventurous and whenever the sea monster is sighted, there are high flute flourishes to depict its presences, they ascend as the monster jumps out of the water and descend with it as it falls back into the water. The scene is left mysteriously empty as the monster can no longer be seen and the music leaves us hanging as to what may happen next.
