This was a really interesting project. We were given totally free reign as to what we wanted to do for this trailer. We read the book and decided to take this one really interesting passage and use this as the basis for the trailer. As it is pretty ‘out there’ and all about time and things that live inside clocks that have no concept of time we thought we would play about with the elasticity of time. Stretching samples of ticking clocks to a constant hum and time stretching the voice on just one word here and there. We brought a heavy live bass through some meaty effects and cut a few heavy drum loops in too from halfway in. This was to add to the action of intrigue, as we weren’t telling a story about what happens in the story but more focusing on an idea the story is based on, we still wanted to get some action in there. I think it came off very well and definitely leaves you with a sense of intrigue as to what on earth this book is about! I really enjoyed the more technical and mathematical side of the time element in this.
