Home Rescue – HJL (music video)

A few years ago I was reading Treasure Island and wondering why on earth that sort of excitement was never really found in songs, lyrically.
This song is about waiting for someone to come back to you, or rather; waiting until the moment is just right to go get ’em back!
I was taking my sailing navigation exams around the same time as writing this song so it was a big influence to the whole ‘plotting’ sort of theme. There’s actually a short story I wrote as a sort of prequel to this song a few months ago, to be found here: gytrashalley.blogspot.com/2010/07/long…looking.html
I’m making a music video for this song with awesome director and film maker Tarquin Glass. You can read all about it and help us fund it (!!) here:www.indiegogo.com/RESCUE-by-Holly-…Lowe-Music-Video
Musicians on this track are:
Me: vocals, piano, flutes
David Lowe: bass, electric guitar, tambourine, pliers (no, really)
Bob Scott: drums (so, so, so awesome!)
*** **** (to be found out!) : cello
The track was produced by myself and my dad (David Lowe) at Uncle Art studio and the great DL mixed it too. Very clever, and me: very lucky.

Lyrics:

Baby, oh no baby you’ve been lying here alone.

I pull him up and I say “you can lean right on my shoulder, I’ve gotten strong in the five years we’ve been getting older” and I told him while skipping over boulders; take his hand and lead him through volcanic ash and quicksand.

I never stopped living…

Baby, oh no baby, I think it’s time I helped you home.

I pull him up as we reach to the top of the great summit, he sees the time spent lying on his stomach and I’m searching for something I left there for the journey; hidden in a cove of sand obscured by bits of wasteland…

I never stopped living, but I never stopped…

I was not passing, this is not chance. It’s no coincidence I found this path.
I’ve been a long time working, mapping and looking and stars on clear nights,
I looked for signs and studied tide-heights,
waited for the time to be just right to come get you.

I never stopped living but I never stopped aching or missing or dreaming.
I never stopped wanting. I never stopped hoping or waiting for you.
No I never stopped collecting. I never stopped seeing or thinking of things just to tell you
While planning and scheming your rescue.
